ISBN: 978-1-914933-25-7

Fact, fiction and ‘Fotographs’! Set amid the spectacular scenery of the Himalayas around the time of the Partition of India, Lotus of Kashmir combines historical facts with romantic fiction. Bob Saunders deftly weaves an exotic romance into his own personal diary of his time in National Service. Superbly illustrated with a large collection of the author’s own black and white photographs of that time, the book also provides a brief history of the events surrounding the Partition of India and a fascinating travelogue of Northern India. The author’s diary entries capture life in National Service just after the Second World War, along with many entertaining anecdotes such as his encounter with a king cobra and a Christmas game of donkey polo. All the dates and events relating to the Partition of India and to National Service are factual, but the romance is pure fiction.

The lotus is the official flower of Jammu and Kashmir, as well as being the national flower of India, having a sacred status in Indian culture. However, in this book, Lotus is a young girl living in Srinagar, the capital of Kashmir. In 1947, Lotus meets Bob, an RAF National Serviceman who is on leave for five days from his camp in the Punjab India Command. A romance develops, but Bob and Lotus lose touch with each other when Bob returns to camp. Why has Bob not heard from Lotus? Will Kismet intervene? Will Bob and Lotus meet again?

There had always been Olivers living in Dalethorpe.  In fact, the village had been founded nearly twelve hundred years ago by the family’s Viking ancestor, Karl Olafsen, and his Hebrew slave-girl wife, Rachel.

For much of the last two hundred years most of the residents of the village owed their livelihoods to the Oliver family, who were both the local squires and mill-owners.  However, once they had established their other family home in the leafy London suburb of Hampstead, their influence was felt well beyond the boundaries of the small East-Lancashire village.  The family was simultaneously privileged and popular, but nothing could protect them from the tragedy, family feud and romantic, political and business machinations that all but overwhelmed them.

All the elements are present for a remarkable family saga as Lionel’s story strides through many of the defining events from the 19th and 20th centuries and onwards to the present day, culminating in the recent expenses scandal at the Palace of Westminster.

Alongside all this runs the thread of the tantalising mystery of the sacred Viking Burial Mound at the end of their large garden and how its secrets would be drip-fed into the lives of this extraordinary family.

Including The Dalethorpe Chronicles, author Lionel Ross has published eight books. He is from Greater Manchester where he lives with his wife Luise and enjoys spending time with his large family. Lionel is the owner / publisher of i2i Publishing.

Jake Faraday lived a quiet life in the rural depths of Somerset until, at the age of thirteen, he was torn from his family and pressed into serving as a powder monkey on a Man of War.

There he witnessed the carnage of battle, murder, corruption and depravity.

With a deadly enemy at his heels and nowhere to run fate took a hand bringing him salvation and a life that he could only ever have dreamed of…

Trudie le BeauI retired to Spain in 2004 with absolutely no idea that she would ever become an author. She had always loved reading and used to enjoy making up stories for my children when they were young, but the thought of writing them down just never occurred to her.

With her husband, she I settled into a quiet mountain village on the Costa Blanca and now with time on her hands, she began to think initially about jotting down ideas with her grandson in mind as he was at one point obsessed with all things piratical. But one thing led to another and she eventually found herself with a finished novel on my hands and with family and friends urging her to try to get the book published. She was fortunate enough to come across Lionel Ross of i2i Publishing who liked the book and who has managed to turn her dream of actually being an author into a reality.

For Trudie, one of the greatest pleasures in life is to take time out and curl up in a comfy chair or snuggle up in bed with a good book that transports her into another world and the notion that now others may take pleasure from doing just that with my work is rewarding beyond measure.

The idea of re-incarnation of the human soul has been part of the belief systems of most religions, for many thousands of years.

We are indebted to Joy Burnett for this incredible work of fiction in which two disparate souls repeatedly come together in a series of five stories set within the backdrop of different periods of history.

In each story she has aimed to create a world that is convincing and authentic, but each is the world of the two characters and theirs alone.

Joy does not claim to be a historian but has tried to relate the events that affect the stories as accurately as possible. She comments that, historical research and abstract ideas alone will not bring a novel to life, so it is the characters that have to be real. It was important for her to see the characters as on-going rather than leaving the void that often happens when the body ceases.

The variations of human existence and experience could occur in many lives, but the lessons unlearned, the feelings unexplored, the potential never released are taken into the next incarnation.

Joy Burnett is a well-travelled, independent lady who loves new experiences. Having lived in Oman, Brunei, Abu Dhabi and Spain, she now lives in Northamptonshire, UK with her husband, a dog and four cats. Born in Somerset, she went to school in Farnham and Harrow.

Her professional life has included fashion retail management, running playgroups, practicing aromatherapy, reflexology, holistic health care and nutrition. In 1990 as a result of working with Aids patients, part of her clinical thesis on the immune system was published in Shirley Price s book Aromatherapy for Health Professionals.

In 1993 she opened her own training school. The Rainbow Bridge School of Aromatherapy in North Yorkshire was nationally accredited with The International Society of Professional Aromatherapists (ISPA) and for over 11 years she taught and practiced both there and in other schools.

On retirement, she joined a local writers group, which inspired her to start writing. To date she has written a racy romance, On the Loose, a book of short stories about holiday cruising, All at Sea, and two Aromatherapy books, Healing with Essential Oils and Aromatherapy for Massage Practitioners. She has two grown sons, one of whom lives in Australia and now enjoys her pets, painting and local theatre.
