The author was born on an Australian farm where there was little time for reading. This translated to storytelling for both entertainment and expression. On gaining adulthood, she became a teacher but not for long before travelling the world. After falling in love and marrying, the oddity of this marriage compelled her to write it down, to share her concept of true love and living beyond the limitations of cultural and societal norms. Lagall holds master’s degrees in writing and teaching and continues to write and mentor authors today.

This novel is set in a small university town, and tells about the interlinking friendships of six friends. The story involves their relationships and some of the problems encountered by one couple who are forced to consider life-changing decisions. It looks at bigotry and its effects, and how extreme views can cause harsh actions, but also shows how kindness and friendship can overcome the most difficult of situations. There are some surprises along the way and moments of both sentiment and humour.You may well think that you recognise some of the characters, although they are all the product of an over-imaginative mind.
