Death of a Hero

With great sadness, it is announced that, due to natural causes and after a short illness, bravely born, Peter Conway’s life came to an end on 24 November 2018.

His funeral took place on 20 December 2018 in Oldham, where he spent the last months of his life.

Peter’s sister, Penny, gave the eulogy and printed in the Order of Service and read out was the following message from Lieutenant General Sir Graeme Cameron Maxwell Lamb KBE, CMG, DSO.

“Such sad news – and like you, I always knew it would be an almost imposs-ible task to win through. Life had just put too many obstacles in front of him and he was tired. You and the family that mattered were incredible, kind and understanding to this wayward son.

Take some comfort that his final months, days and hours were increasingly lost to him and so, no fear, no concerns, no anxiety.

Hey Ho! Life is unfair but I for one am the better for knowing Peter, albeit briefly, in what was a roller coaster of a career.

‘Ta us wha’s like us, guy few and their all dead.’

Strength and Honour”

May his soul rest in the peace that eluded him during his life.
